How to Align EPC Elements

BPaaS Editor offers you different possibilities to automatically align selected EPC elements:

  • Left
  • Center horizontally
  • Right
  • Top
  • Center vertically
  • Bottom
  • Distribute horizontally
  • Distribute vertically

All above options for alignment are available via the context menu.

The context menu displays the option Align only if you select at least two elements and open the menu on top of one of them.

This example shows the test project Aligning EPC Elements.

The four elements Organisation Model, Integration, EPC Modeland Document were placed in the Project Editor.

The alignment options affect the highlighted elements as follows:

Left

Center horizontally

Right

Top

Center vertically

Bottom edge

Distribute horizontally

Distribute vertically

Info

For horizontal and vertical distribution, the elements are aligned so that the distances between the element boundaries are the same. The distribution is not based on the element's center points.

Place Elements in Fore- or Background

Another option for alignment of elements is whether the element shall be placed in the foreground or background. You will find this option in the Editor's context menu also. This option is especially helpful if various elements should overlap, for example to display that one element contains multiple others.

If you open the context menu over a selected element, it contains two options to define foreground and backfround characteristics:

  • Put to Front
  • Put to Background

Both options are only relevant if elements overlap.

The EPC element Frame is an exception to the rule.

A frame is always situated in the background, it is unable to overlap other elements. Therefore the frame's context menu will not contain the options Put to Front/Put to Background.

Each new element created on the work surface is automatically placed in the foreground.

The element can be placed in the background via the context menu.

The element even remains in the background during editing, for example during size adjustment.

Analog to this you may place an element in the foreground using the option Put to Front in the context menu.
