Explorer Tab Overview

The Explorer tab is the most important window of the Business Modeler.

In this tab you can see

every folder and model. Users with the respective permissions can manipulate its content.
Databases

databases, folders, models and object definitions you have read or write permissions for. 

The Explorer tab has the following parts that are interconnected:

  1. Toolbar
  2. Structure Bar
  3. Description Bar

This is the first window that appears after login. It presents all databases that  that are currently active.

You can only create a folder directly in a database.

In the selected folder you can create a model or a new folder.

Models

You can only create models in folders

Models must be created within the folder. Models cannot be created directly in a database.

The different types of models are explained on page Model Processes.

Objects

By selecting a Model in the Structure bar preview of the selected model will appear within the Description bar in addition to the listed objects

You can find the Object item in the Explorer tab. You can turn this option on or off.

Objects are only visible in the Explorer tab structure if you activate the checkbox at the bottom of the screen.

When you select any of the given objects and select a model in the Description bar containing that object, it will open in a new tab. You only see the objects for which you have read or write permission

Model Status Attribute

If you create Status attribute for a model and select a status, that model will have a status icon in Explorer tab.

The status icon varies depending on which status is selected. 

Status of a model can be: approved, in approval process, in progress or not approved.

Objects

You can find Object definitions within the Structure bar.

Object definitions are only visible in the Structure bar if you click on the checkbox next to the Show objects label in the lower left corner of the screen.
