Compare Model Overview

The Compare Model functionality provides the comparison of the currently opened model with another selected model, based on the objects and relations contained in them.

To use this functionality, first select the model that you want to compare the current model with, and then you will have a view of all the relevant data within the Compare model panel.

Choosing a Model for Comparison

To select a comparison model, first click on the Compare Model icon located on the Model Toolbar.

After that, a dialog window will be displayed where you can choose a model to compare.

The selected model can be of a different type, and it can also be in a different database.

The once selected model is remembered and will always be displayed in the Compare Model panel of the current model, until another model is selected for comparison.

Compare Model Panel

The Compare Model panel is by default located in the lower-right corner of the screen, along with the Objects, Fragments and Validation panels.

If the comparison model is not selected, the Compare Model panel will display the message "No model selected.".

When you have selected a model for comparing, within the Compare Model panel all the differences that exist in the objects and relations between the current model and the selected model will be displayed. The differences are divided into several sections:

  • Missing objects and Missing relations sections show objects / relations that are not contained in the current model and are in the selected model.
  • Modified objects and Modified relations sections show objects / relations that are contained in both models but contain some differences in attributes.
  • More objects and More relations sections show objects / relations that are contained in the current model and are not in the chosen model.

Objects and relations that are identical in both models are not displayed within the Compare Model panel.

The Compare Model panel is automatically refreshed if any relevant changes occur on the model that is being compared.
